Physical Education at Trinity
Physical education at Trinity is an elective program designed to satisfy a variety of individual student needs. Activities are designed to enhance health and physical fitness while also fulfilling recreational and leisure-time interests. Over 1,000 students registered for physical education classes in 2008-09.
Trinity does not offer a physical education major and physical education is not mandatory. But, unlike many institutions, Trinity offers academic credit for physical education. Up to a maximum of one credit, for four years, may be earned at rate of one- quarter credit for successful completion of one quarter of physical education course work.
Physical education activities vary from quarter to quarter, and they are generally offered on a coeducational basis. Since most activities are offered in two to three levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced), it is easy for students to customize a physical education program that meets their individual interests and needs. There is a strong emphasis on lifetime sports.
