In women's lacrosse, Sheppard coached for 25 seasons with a 213-68-5 record, three NIAC championship titles, seven ECAC Championship appearances, and three NCAA Division III Championship appearances. She also coached the Trinity women's basketball team from 1975-1978.
In January of 2002, Sheppard was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame in September of that same year. Also in the fall of 2002, Trinity College dedicated their new state of the art synthetic turf field hockey and lacrosse field the Robin L. Sheppard Field in her honor. In November of 2004, she was inducted into the Southern New Jersey All Sports Museum Hall of Fame for her career achievements. Then in 2006, Sheppard was honored by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association by receiving the Diane Geppi-Aikens Lifetime Achievement Award.
A tenured professor of physical education, Sheppard retired from coaching following the 1998-99 academic year to assume her full-time administrative duties which include compliance for all 29 sports. Besides her responsibilities in the athletic department, she also serves as the athletic liaison with the office of student services. She has taught a First Year Seminar where she served as an academic advisor to first year and sophomore students. She has served on various faculty committees and is currently the Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee. A native of Bridgeton, N.J., Sheppard received her bachelor's degree from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton Sate College) and a master's degree from Trinity College.
She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) and at the NCAA level she has served as Chair of the National Field Hockey Committee and as Regional Chair of the New England Lacrosse Committee.
She remains passionate about Trinity College and appreciates the
support that the campus community and the alumni provide to the
athletic program. Our male and female athletes are engaged in
campus life outside of their specific sport interests and through
their efforts have made Trinity an outstanding liberal arts
institution. Their involvement as leaders, mentors, tutors,
and scholars requires exceptional talent and a strong commitment to
discipline and time management. She is delighted to be part
of such a competitive and successful program.
