Robin Sheppard has been a fixture at Trinity College associate director of athletics and senior women's administrator, professor of physical education, and legendary head field hockey and women's lacrosse since 1974. 

Sheppard coached field hockey at Trinity for 24 seasons, compiling a 240-67-13 overall record. She coached the Bantams to four National Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC) championship titles, three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship appearances, including an ECAC title in 1992, and four NCAA Division III Championship appearances, including two trips to the NCAA Final Four.  Besides her responsibilities in the athletic department, she also serves as the athletic liaison with the office of student services, as assistant director of the first-year program where she teaches an annual seminar and serves as an academic advisor to first-year and sophomore students.

Sheppard guided the Bantam women's lax teams for 25 seasons with a 213-68-5 record, three NIAC championship titles, seven ECAC Championship appearances, and three NCAA Division III Championship appearances. She also coached the Trinity women's basketball team from 1975-1978.  Sheppard retired from coaching following the 1998-99 academic year to assume her full-time administrative duties. 

In January of 2002, Sheppard was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame in September of that same year. Also in the fall of 2002, Trinity College dedicated their new state of the art synthetic turf field hockey and lacrosse field in her honor.  She was honored for her administrative skills in 1998 by Athletic Management magazine and as an International Sports Fellow by the Institute for International Sport in Rhode Island in 2001.  Sheppard was also given the Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for her service to the collegiate game in 2006.

Sheppard starred in field hockey and lacrosse at Trenton State (now The College of New Jersey). She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) and was in the first graduating class of the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement in 1995.
