Hartford, Conn. - As we enter the new calendar year, this year's 14th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the basketball court and ice. Women's basketball senior co-captain Sheena Landy (Durham, Conn.) and junior men's hockey forward Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Landy averaged 11.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 steals in the team's last three games. She had 14 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and six steals against St. Joseph's, and 19 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals against Wheaton. Landy shot 58.3 percent from the field in the three games as the Bantams currently sit at 9-2 overall.
Sabitsky came up clutch with his first game-winning goal of the season in Trinity’s 2-1 triumph on the road at then No. 4 ranked Adrian last weekend. The New Jersey native buried the puck into the back of the net at the 5:30 mark in the first period to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Bantams to the win. Sabitsky is currently tied for seventh in the NESCAC in scoring (1.10 ppg) and tied for the team-lead with six goals.
