Hartford, Conn. - As January's deep freeze begins to warm, this year's 16th Bantams of the Week have been named, thanks to their strong performances on the hardwood and wrestling mats. Sophomore women's basketball guard Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) and junior wrestling captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.
Each week, the Trinity athletics website will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Bantams of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition from the previous week.
Kabari scored a season-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season against the Hamilton College Continentals over the weekend. Kabari also had three assists, a steal and a block against Hamilton, finishing the week with 21 total rebounds and six steals. She currently ranks sixth in the NESCAC in rebounding (6.9 rpg).
Sorensen continued his dominance at 149-pounds over the weekend, going 3-0 in a quad-meet hosted by the Bantams. Two of Sorensen's three wins came over nationally-ranked opponents, the first a 3-2 victory over Wesleyan's 149 who is ranked No. 2 in New England, and the second via a 4-3 decision over Roger Williams' nationally ranked 149-pounder. Sorensen has been dominant this winter, posting a 13-2 record across two weight classes with seven pins.
