Trinity Baseball Completes Perfect NESCAC Season With Sweep Against Colby

Hartford, Conn. - Junior 1B Kent Graham (Longmeadow, Mass.) led an offensive onslaught with five hits in eight at-bats, three homers, four runs, eight RBI to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 19/18-1/8 doubleheader sweep against the visiting Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division baseball action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 7 in in the nation, improves to 21-3 overall with its eighth and ninth wins in a row and completes a three-game sweep of the Mules for the weekend and a perfect 12-0 mark in the division for the second consecutive season. Colby falls to 5-17 overall and 1-8 in the league, while extending its losing skid to eight games.
Trinity scored six times in the first inning of the first game and led, 14-0 after four frames en route an easy triumph. Bantam sophomore righty Andrew Janiga (Ellington, Conn.) allowed one hit with four strikeouts to take the victory on the hill. In the second game, Colby used a seven-run second inning to go ahead, 7-3, but the Bantams methodically scored three runs in each of the first three innings and two in the fourth for an 11-8 lead. Bantam junior LHP Derek Anderson (McLean, Va.) pitched 5.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory, and classmate Jack Abbott (Longmeadow, Mass.) drove in the game-tying and game-winning runs on a two-out, two-run single in the third.
