Trinity's Burrows And Papa Sweep NESCAC Weekly Baseball Awards

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College sophomore RHO Peter Burrows (Floral Park, N.Y.) and  junior OF Joe Papa (Stoneham, Mass.) were selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the fine performances in the NESCAC Championship Tournament.  The Bantams won their fourth league title over the weekend with three wins in three days.

Burrows was on the hill for the Bantams in the decisive game of the NESCAC Baseball Championship on Sunday, allowing just four hits (.138) and one walk while striking out five. Only one runner advanced past second base in the nine-inning affair.

Papa had a stellar weekend at the plate during the 2012 NESCAC Baseball Championship, leading the Bantams to their fourth conference crown with a .636 average (7-for-14) and a .692 on-base mark. Papa had a hit in all three Trinity victories, with two of his seven going for extra bases. He also scored four runs, drove in three, walked twice, and did not strike out. In Friday's 6-5 win over Williams, Papa was 3-for-3. He went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in Saturday's 14-3 victory against Bowdoin.
