Hartford, Conn. - Senior co-captain LHP Chris Speer (Westport, Conn.) won his second start in six days, tossing six innings and allowing six hits with two strikeouts to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-0 victory over the visiting Brandeis University Judges in baseball action this afternoon at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium.  Trinity, which has not allowed a run in its last 27 innings including a 1-0 complete-game win by Speer on Sunday at Bates, improves to 17-13 with its fourth win in a row.  Brandeis drops to 5-19.

Leading, 1-0, after three innings thanks to an unearned run in the third, Trinity broke the game open with four in the fourth and three more in fifth.  Speer worked out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth inning, and the Bantam offense kept the momentum going.  Junior Carter Snyder (Lemont, Ill.) led off with a hit and eventually scored on a groundout by first-year OF Matt Koperniak (Adams, Mass.) for the first run of the game.  Trinity sophomore 1B Johnny Stamatis (Ridgefielld, Conn.) delivered a two-out, two-run double later in the inning, stole third base, and then scored on a double steal after senior 3B Nick DiBenedetto (Fort Myers, Fla.) had reached first on a hit batsman.

Trinity added to its lead on an RBI double by junior 2B Cooper Mooney (Southbury, Conn.), a bases-loaded balk, and an RBI triple by Koperniak in the fifth frame.  The Bantam defense turned double plays in both the seventh and eighth innings to help the bullpen keep the game scoreless, and junior RHP Nick Fusco (Orange, Conn.) pitched a perfect ninth with one K.  Sophomore Kyle Lussier (Hingham, Mass.) went 3-for-4, while senior Ryan Tettemer (Westfield, Mass.) had two hits and a double for Brandeis. Judge junior righty Sean O'Neill (Reading, Mass.) pitched into the fifth but took the loss to fall to 2-4, while senior lefty Mike Musto (Milton, Mass.) was solid in relief with 2.1 innings pitched and just one hit allowed with 2 strikeouts.  DiBenedetto and sophomore SS Ben Reinisch (Troy, N.Y.) had two hits apiece for Trinity.
