Several Bantams Receive Awards at Post-Season Football Banquet
Hartford, Conn. - After wrapping up the successful 2011 season with a 7-1 overall record, the Trinity College football team recently held its end of the season banquet where several Bantams received honorable awards. Senior co-captain Walter Fallas, after being named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, rightfully received the award for Defensive MVP at the banquet.
Senior co-captain Herman Brito, a two-time Capital One Academic All-District and NESCAC All-Academic selection, was named to the Capital One Academic All-American First Team this fall and received the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award at the banquet.
Freshman running back Michael Budness left the football banquet as the recipient of the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Sophomore Evan Bunker, who was named the 2010 NESCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year, received the Offensive MVP Award for the 2011 season.
Freshman Tom Szymanski and fellow teammate sophomore Brett Cde Baca each received the award for Defensive Rookie of the year. Finally junior starter on the offensive line Mike Valenti received the Offensive Lineman of the Year award.
