Trinity Field Hockey Shuts Out Westfield State In Season Opener


Hartford, Conn. - Senior co-captain Karli Del Rossi (Mantua, N.J.) scored four times in the first half to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-0 victory against the visiting Westfield State Owls in both teams' season-opening field hockey game this afternoon on Sheppard Field.  West 

Trinity freshman Robyn Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) converted on the first of two assists in the game by senior co-captain defender Emily Skipp (Middlebury, Conn.) with her first career goal to open the scoring 7:17 into the game.  Del Rossi scored from Williams just 31 seconds later, and the Bantams coasted to a 6-0 halftime advantage.  Williams finished with two goals and one assist and Skipp a goal and two assists, while sophomore Christy Bradley (Wellesley, Mass.) notched a pair of assists for the Bantams. 

Owl freshman goalie Amanda McCarthy (Franklin, Mass.) made 12 saves, while Bantam keepers Gina Dinallo (West Hartford, Conn.) and Payden Sra (Pewaukee, Wisc.) each recorded one save.  Trinity outshot Westfield State, 27-2.
