Trinity Golf Ties For First At NESCAC Tourney, Middlebury Gains League Title

Middlebury, Vt. - The Middlebury College Panthers won their third New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Golf Championship, earning the crown over the Trinity College Bantams via tie-breaker for the second time in three seasons. The Championship event took place at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the campus of Middlebury College.
Trailing by seven strokes and in fourth place after day one, Middlebury came back strong on the second day of competition, firing a team total of 300 to finish with a two-day total of 613. Trinity, who trailed tournament leader Williams by two strokes after day one, shot a 305 to also finish with a 613. The championship tie-breaker goes to the team's fifth player on that day, as Middlebury's Ben Kunofsky shot an 80 to edge an 82 shot by Josh Grossman (Great Neck, N.Y.) of Trinity. Hamilton finished three strokes back with a 616, while Williams struggled on day two with a 325, finishing in fourth place with a 631. Trinity junior co-captain Reid Longley (Atlanta, Ga.) captured medalist honors, with a 73 and 74 for a two-day total of 147.
