Trinity Golf Finishes Second Among D3 Schools At New England Championships


Longley And Coach Detrick Receive Awards For Bantams 

Brewster, Mass. - Senior co-captain Reid Longley (Atlanta, Ga.) shot a 73 on each day for a two-round, 10th-place score of 146 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to eighth place among all teams and second among Division III schools in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship Tournament today and yesterday at The Captain's Course on Cape Cod.  Longley earns All-New England honors for his fine performance.  Trinity Head Coach Bill Detrick (Cromwell, Conn.), also the former Central Connecticut State University men's basketball coach, received the Gordon McCullough Coach's Award for his exemplary career as the Bantam golf coach. 

Trinity mirrored Longley's performance with a team score of 305 yesterday and today, but the Salem State College Vikings shot one stroke better on Monday to finish with a 304 and a 305 and a 609 for the tournament.  Bantam junior co-captain Jay Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) shot a 154 and sophomore Alex Bermingham (Bedford, N.Y.) shot a 155 to give Trinity three players among the top 40 individuals.
