Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College golf team, coached by Bill Detrick (19th season), will open the 2011-12 season with its annual home invitational at Tallwood and Blackledge Country Clubs in Hebron, Conn. on September 10 and 11. Last season, Trinity qualified for its fourth straight league championship with a strong showing at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall Qualifier, hosted by Trinity for the first time, and earned second place in the NESCAC Championship Tourney.
Tri-captains Alex Bermingham (Bedford, N.Y.), a senior with numerous accolades attached to his name over his first three seasons, and juniors Dante Ambrogio (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Jack Palley (Pelham, Mass.) lead the squad in 2011-12. Talented sophomore John Shilling (New Canaan, Conn.) will compete with one of Trinity's best-ever group of freshman prospects for the remaining spots.
