Trinity Golf Captains Earn Academic And Sportsmanship Awards
Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College golf senior tri-captain Alex Bermingham (Bedford, N.Y.) and junior tri-captain Jack Palley (Pelham, Mass.) were each selected as the NCAA Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholars as chosen by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), while Palley and junior tri-captain Dante Ambrogio (Wethersfield, Conn.) graced the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Team. Bermingham also represented Trinity golf on the 2011 NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
To be honored as NESCAC All-Academic, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution.
