Entering his 23rd season at Trinity, Bill Detrick has fielded a squad capable of finishing among the top teams in New England each year. After guiding the Bantams to their first NESCAC title in 2010, Trinity extended its streak of NESCAC Championship appearances to six in a row with strong showings at the last two NESCAC Fall Qualifiers and earned third place in both the 2011 and 2012 NESCAC Championship Tournaments. Trinity, which tied for first place in the league in 2007 and 2009, also tied for second among Division III schools at the 2010 New England Championships, after having claimed that title (6th among all divisions) in 2006 and 2007. In 2007-08, Trinity won the first annual NESCAC Fall Championship Qualifier, and the Bantams repeated as ECAC Champs the following fall. The 2001, 2006, and 2007 NESCAC Coach of the Year, Detrick has coached no less than five NESCAC Individual Medalists in the last six seasons.
Detrick came to Trinity in 1990 after a legendary tenure as head
men’s basketball coach at Central Connecticut State
University, where the gymnasium bears his name. A 1950 graduate of
Central Connecticut, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in
business education, Detrick also has a master’s degree in
guidance from New York University.
