Castleton State Spoils Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Regular Season Finale


Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Steve Culbertson (Bowling Green, Ohio) scored the game-winning goal 14 seconds into the third period to lead the visiting Castleton State College Spartans to a 3-2 win over the Trinity College Bantams in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East men's ice hockey game this afternoon at Williams Rink. 

Trinity finishes the regular season with a 15-8 record and a 12-7 mark in the NESCAC with its second loss in as many days, while the Spartans closes at 15-8-2 overall and 11-6-2 in the ECAC East with their seventh victory in a row.  Trinity finishes as the No. 4 seed in the NESCAC Championship Tournament and will begin defending its 2008 league title next Saturday against No. 5-seeded Connecticut College at 1 p.m.

Trinity senior co-captain defenseman Chris Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.) had tied the score at 2-2 with 7:21 left in the second period.  Bantam sophomore forward Adam Houli (Howell, N.J.) also scored, while classmate Wesley Vesprini (Lexington, Mass.) made 22 saves.
