Quigley Leads Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Past Connecticut College
Middletown, Conn. - Junior forward Matthew Quigley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had three goals, including the game-tying goal late in the second period and the game-winner early in the third frame, and one assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 6-3 victory over the Connecticut College Camels in the consolation game of the William A. Spurrier Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at Wesleyan University this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 13 in the nation, improves to 3-1, while the Camels remain winless at 0-4.
Quigley broke a 3-3 tie with his third goal of the game from classmates Adam Houli (Howell, N.J.) and Ben Shellington (Hanover, Mass.) 2:39 into the final period, after tying the game from Houli and freshman Adamo Micelli (Woodbridge, Ontario) with 4:38 remaining in the seocnd period. Trinity freshman forward Jordan So (Toronto, Ontario) added an insurance goal from Quigley and Micelli 3:20 after Quigley's clinching tally.
Bantam junior goaltender Wesley Vesprin (Lexington, Mass.) made 22 saves, while Andrew Margolin (Mahwah, N.J.) had 20 stops for the Camels. Sophomore forward Sean McCarthy (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman forward Stephen Rogers (Watertown, Conn.) also scored for Trinity, while Julien Boutet (Amos, Quebec) scored twice and Brett Moore (Medfield, Mass.) had two helpers for Connecticut College.
