Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College junior Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) has been named to the New England Hockey Writers Association Division II/III All-Star Team and the CCM Men's Hockey All-American Third Team thanks to his play this winter for the Bantams. Orlando was also selected to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference First Team, while junior forward Ryan Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) and sophomore forward Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) each received All-NESCAC Second Team accolades. The CCM Hockey All-American teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Orlando will be honored at the New England Hockey Writers' banquet at Prince Restaurant in Saugas, Mass. on Wednesday, April 13 at 6 p.m.
The Bantams, coached by Matt Greason, finished the 2015-16 season with a 21-6-1 overall record and in second place in the NESCAC with a 14-4 league mark. The Bantams won the NESCAC Championship Tournament title with a 3-1 quarterfinal win over Colby, a 4-3 semifinal win against Tufts, and a 5-1 victory in the finals for their third league crown. Defending NCAA Champion Trinity earned a chance to defend its national title, but lost, 4-0, against Mass.-Boston in the opening round.
Orlando tallied 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists while appearing in all 28 games this winter. He tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with three and power-play goals with four. Orlando led the nation in game-winning goals as a freshman in 2013-14 and in power-play goals a year ago while helping the Bantams win their first NCAA Division III Championship title. He was named to the 2015 NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team with three assists in the semifinals versus Adrian and a goal in the 5-1 finals win against Wisc.-Stevens Point. Agraduate of Westminster School in Connecticut, Orlando is majoring in economics at Trinity. He is the son of Karen and Richard Orlando.
Cole, the 2014-15 NESCAC Player of the Year and 2013-14 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, makes his third appearance on the all-league squad after collecting first-team recognition the previous two seasons. Cole had 22 points this winter and 10 goals and 12 assists and tied for the team lead in power-play tallies with three while appearing in all 28 games. He became the 25th player in Trinity College history to score his 100th point this season. A two-time New England Hockey Writers All-Star and a 2015 CCM First Team All-American, Cole holds the College's rookie scoring record with 48 points in 19 goals and 29 assists in 2013-14. He is a graduate of Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire, and is majoring in economics and philosophy with a minor in legal studies at Trinity. Cole's brother, Brandon, is also a junior forward for the Bantams and the pair are the sons of Sheri and Brent Cole.
Sabitsky played in all 28 games and led the Bantams in goals with 12, assists with 17, and scoring with 29 points this winter. He also tied for the team lead in power-play goals and tallied a pair of game-winners. A graduate of Milton Academy in Massachusetts, he is the son of Jamie and Mary Sabitsky.
