Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Downs Wesleyan For Tenth Time In A Row

Hartford, Conn. - Senior forward Ryan Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) had a goal and an assist and junior goaltender Alex Morin (St. Hubert, Quebec) posted his fourth shutout of the year with 30 saves to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Ice Hockey regular-season finale for both teams this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center.  Trinity closes the regular campaign with a 15-6-3 overall record and a 11-5-2 mark in the league, having won five games in a row including a sweep of the home-and-home series against the Cardinals this weekend.  Wesleyan, which lost at home to Trinity, 7-2, last night, is now 12-8-4 overall and 7-7-4 in the conference with its third loss in a row and its 10th consecutive setback against the Bantams.  Both teams have qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament, which the Bantams won last season.  Trinity will host Tufts in a first round game next Saturday and Wesleyan will play at Colby the same day.

Ryan Cole scored from classmates Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) and Brandon Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) just 2:21 into the game, and senior forward Will Sleeper (Wellesley, Mass.) added a second Bantam tally with just under seven minutes remaining in the opening period.  Morin came up with 11 saves in the first two periods and eight in the final stanza, as the Bantams finished with a 37-30 shooting edge and committed just two penalties to six for the Cardinals.  Ryan Cole and junior forward Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.) assisted junior forward Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) on the third Trinity goal in the final period to round out the scoring.
