Trinity's Cullen And Fadden Earn All-NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Honors

Hartford, Conn., June 3, 2009 - Trinity College men's lacrosse junior attackman Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) was selected to the 2009 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference First Team, while senior goalkeeper Graham Fadden (New Canaan, Conn.) was chosen for the All-NESCAC Second Team.  Trinity, coached by James Finlay (4th Season), recorded the third double-digit-victory season in Trinity's 49-year history at 10-6 and finished tied for sixth place with Amherst for sixth place in the NESCAC with a 4-5 league mark.  The Bantams qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the third straight season, but dropped an 11-8 decision at Bowdoin in the quarterfinals.

Cullen led Trinity in goals and overall scoring with a College-record 48 goals (2nd in NESCAC, 8th in nation), including five man-up tallies and three game-winners, and six assists for 54 points (8th in NESCAC). Cullen played in all 16 games (15 starts), but did not start and was not a factor in the post-season loss at Bowdoin due to an injury suffered in the regular-season finale two days earlier, and also totaled 312 ground balls.  Cullen was selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week on April 13, after tallying nine goals in road wins over Eastern Connecticut and Bates.   Cullen scored all of his game-high four goals in the third quarter, leading Trinity back from a 6-2 halftime deficit for a 7-6 advantage heading into the fourth that the Bantams would not relinquish against Eastern Connecticut. In an 11-6 win at Bates, Cullen paced his squad once again with five more scores. He also contributed three ground balls during that week. A graduate of the Episcopal School in Virginia, Cullen is majoring in economics at Trinity.  He is the son of Sharon and Barry Cullen.

Fadden started all 16 games and played 900 of the team's 960 minutes in goal this spring for the Bantams.  Fadden stopped 161 shots and allowed just 117 goals for a 7.80 GAA (2nd in NESCAC, 24th in nation), a College-record .579 save percentage (4th in NESCAC), and a 10-6 won-loss mark (tied College record for wins).  A transfer to Trinity from Washington College, Fadden finishes his collegiate career with 189 saves for a .571 save percentage, 142 goals allowed for a College-record 7.94 GAA and an 11-8 won-loss record in 27 games and 1,073 minutes in goal.  An alum of the Westminster School, Fadden graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in economics.  He is the daughter of Katherine and Jerry Fadden.
