Cullen Leads Trinity Men's Lacrosse To Win Against Wheaton
Hartford, Conn. - Junior attackman Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) notched five goals and two assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 17-2 win over the visiting Wheaton College Lyons in men's lacrosse action this afternoon on Jessee/Miller Field. Trinity, which has allowed just three goals in its last two games, improves to 4-1 with its second win in a row, while the Lyons fall to 0-4.
Trinity held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter but used a 4-0 second frame to put the game away early. Seven different players scored the Bantam goals in the first-half. Trinity outshot the Lyons, 47-25, picked up 51 ground balls to just 21 for Wheaton, and won 17 of the game's 23 face-offs. Trinity senior captain attackman Rob Mountain (New Canaan, Conn.) scored three times, while sophomore attacker Kevin Looby (Kansas City, Mo.) collected a goal and three assists, and junior midfielder Ray Mooney (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Brendan Newland (Oakland, Conn.) each netted a pair of goals.
Senior goalie Graham Fadden (New Canaan, Conn.) made six saves and freshman Peter Johnson (Riverside, Conn.) stopped three shots for the Bantams, while Wheaton junior goalie Schuyler Horn (New Hartford, Conn.) totaled 10 saves. Trinity senior captain Connor Wells (Haddam, Conn.) won 11 of his 17 face-off opportunities and added a game-high 12 ground balls.
