Trinity Men's Lacrosse Announces 2010 Captains

Hartford, Conn. - After the recent team vote, Trinity College men's lacrosse head coach Jim Finlay would like to announce that Harper Cullen, Nick Isbrandtsen, Colin Murphy and Ray Mooney will serve as captains for the 2010 season.

"This is the first set of captains that I brought into this program. They epitomize what Trinity College men's lacrosse has become, and are a hardworking, successful and determined to win," states Coach Finlay.

Cullen, a senior attackman from Rehoboth Beach, Del., was voted for the second year in a row the Chet McPhee team MVP award and was last years leading scorer. Cullen also broke the single season goals record with 48, while he anchored the team's offense and guided them to their third consecutive appearance in the NESCAC playoffs.

Isbrandtsen, a senior defenseman from Greenwich, Conn., was a vocal and physical force that helped Trinity have the second best defense in the NESCAC, with a 7.5 goals against average. Isbrandtsen was also a member of the U.S. National Rugby team. Isbrandtsen's older brother Jake, a goalie, was also a captain for Trinity in 2006.

Murphy, a senior long stick midfielder from Wellesley, Mass., was a leader both on and off the field. He has consistently been asked to defend opponent's top midfielders while also drawing duties at the wing on face offs. Murphy was second on the team last season with 65 ground balls.

Mooney, a senior midfielder also from Wellesley, Mass., has been one of Trinity's top defensive midfielders for the last two years. Mooney is been a vocal and passionate leader on the field. Last season he contributed five goals as well as 1.56 ground balls per game.

"These four seniors will be looked upon to continue setting a high standard for their teammates both on and off the field," said Coach Finlay.  "We are certain that their leadership, along with our other seniors, will help Trinity to another great season."
