Babson Park, Mass. - Sophomore Samuel Mishkind (Chappaqua, N.Y.) scored four times to lead the Babson College Beavers to a 17-6 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in men's lacrosse action this afternoon at MacDowell Field. Trinity falls to 2-5 with its second loss in a row, while Babson wins its second in a row to improve to 4-3.
Sophomore Troy Hanlon (New Vernon, N.J.) scored three goals for the Bantams. Classmate Scott Morgan (Grand Rapids, Mich.) won 10-of-18 face-offs and senior Reid McCool (Gulf Stream, Fla.) contributed five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Jason Cox (Westwood, Mass.) and first-year Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass.) each scored twice for the Beavers, while junior Jack O’Donoghue (Scituate, Mass.) led all players with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Babson jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one and broke the game open with six second-quarter tallies, as Trinity opened up an 8-0 lead at halftime. Trinity first-year Ben Ferrucci (Essex, Conn.) and Hanlon scored in the third quarter, and Trinity added the first four goals of the final frame to makethe score, 14-6, with 8:32 on the clock. Hanlon scored twice in the fourth quarter and Bantam junior midfielder John Caraviello (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore middie Ben MacShane (Concord, Mass.) also had goals.
First-year Chris Aranalde (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made six saves in three quarters for action for Babson, while junior Woody Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass.) stopped 15 shots over the first 45 minutes for the Bantams. The Beavers outshot Trinity 54-26 and forced 24 turnovers while finishing with a 35-31 edge in ground balls.
