Worcester, Mass. - The Trinity College varsity four posted a winning time of 7:09.69 in a three-boat race that also included crews from the Connecticut College Camels and the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers on Lake Quinsigamond this morning. Trinity's varsity eight added a second-place time of 6:05.06 in a five-boat race won by the Engineers, and the Bantam second-varsity eight was third in its race.
I am extremely happy with a strong and improved effort today," said Trinity Head Coach Kevin MacDermott. "The varsity finished a strong second to WPI, the top-seeded crew in New England. The varsity four also had a great race, coming through the field to win by under two seconds. Our second varsity was in second place before an ill-timed blade error cost the crew valuable seconds. Everyone is excited to get back to Worcester to race it up again tomorrow."
The Bantams race on Lake Quinsigamond tomorrow against Holy Cross and for the Graf Cup against Wesleyan, as this weekend's events are the lone dual races of the 2016-17 season after a rain-out of the team's scheduled races at Boston College on April 1. Trinity's varsity eight finished ahead of Colby, Ithaca, and New Hampshire but 6.26 seconds shy of the Engineers in first. Trinity's second varsity was behind Worcester Tech and Ithaca but ahead of Colby and New Hampshire.
