Trinity Novice Boats Finish Second and Tenth At Green Monster Regatta

Hanover, N.H. - The Trinity College men's novice A boat finished second of 14 teams in the Dartmouth College Green Monster Freshman Invitational on the Connecticut River this morning. The Bantam crew posted a time of 14:32.80, which was 33.2 seconds behind first-place Dartmouth Heavyweights. The second place finish was also an improvement over last year's 6th place finish and included wins over Holy Cross, Dartmouth Lightweights, Tufts University, Boston College, and UMass. Trinity's B boat finished 10th overall with a time of 16:58.35, which was second among B boat entries.

Head Coach Kevin MacDermott commented, "Both crews raced very well in tough conditions. They maintained power and rhythm in a significant headwind." This event concludes the 2017 fall rowing season for the Bantams as they shift into the winter training period.  Looking ahead to the spring season, MacDermott said, "A significant amount of work lies ahead, but the fall results are promising.  At the Head of the Charles, the Head of the Fish, and at today's race, the crews showed that they have the potential to have a successful spring racing season. These excellent performances represent the potential speed within the boathouse." The Bantams will return to action in March at Boston College.
