Marlette Goal Gives Bantams Overtime Victory, Bid to NESCAC Championship Tournament

Hartford, Conn. -   Sophomore midfielder Peter Marlette (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 1-0 victory over the Tufts University Jumbos at Campus Field today. Trinity remains unbeaten at home this season (6-0) and improves to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the NESCAC, while the Jumbos fall to 7-5-1.  The Bantams clinch their second straight bid to the NESCAC Championship Tournament.

After a scoreless first half, both teams had scoring opportunities to take a lead late in the second half, but neither offense was able to capitalize.  Trinity had two goals called back in regulation, but in overtime, Sam Wisner (Wayland, Mass.) found an open Marlette in front of the net, who was able to break the scoring drought with his third goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Zac Trudeau (Norwell, Mass.) led the strong Trinity defense with six saves, collecting his sixth shutout of the season.  Tufts senior goalkeeper David McKeon (Loundonville, N.Y.) made eight saves for the Jumbos.
