Mayernick Hat Trick Gives Trinity Men's Soccer Win against Mitchell
Hartford, Conn. - Freshman forward Dan Mayernick (Gladwyne, Pa.) recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-1 win over the visiting Mitchell College Pequots this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-1, while the Pequots fall to 2-4 with their second loss in a row.
Trinity scored three times in a seven-minute span midway through the first half to take a 3-0 lead and held a 6-0 advantage until the 80th minute. Mayernick scored consecutive goals in the first half, and added a third in the second half, while senior tri-captain midfielder Michael Van Beuren (Spring City, Pa.) collected a pair of assists. Sophomore forward Jamie Serrano (Clinton, Conn.) scored for Mitchell and Pequot freshman goalie Kevin Woodford (Clinton, Conn.) made five saves. Bantam senior goalkeeper Zac Trudeau (Norwell, Mass.) made two saves and did not surrender a goal in his 79:30 of play.
