Wisner Leads Trinity Men's Soccer To Season-Opening Shutout At Colby


Waterville, Maine - Senior tri-captain forward Samuel Wisner (Wayland, Mass.) tallied tjhe game's only goal 4:22 into the second half to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a season-opening, 1-0 win over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's soccer this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 5 in New England, is 1-0 overall and in the NESCAC, while the Mules arer 0-1 overall and in the league.

Wisner received a pass from senior tri-captain midfielder Chris Doran (Wayland, Mass.) and slipped a low shot from about 18 yards out past Colby goalkeeper Dan Marden (Londonderry, N.H.).  Trinity sophomore Grant Schonberg (Mendham, N.J.) stopped three shots in the first half to earn the shutout, while Marden stopped four shots.  The teams both had nine shots on goal and the Bantams had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
