Trinity Men's Squash Secures Perfect Regular Season With Win At Princeton

Princeton, N.J. – Senior co-captain Johan Detter (Malmoe, Sweden) allowed just 10 points in the No. 6 match to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 6-3 victory over the Princeton University Tigers in men's squash action this afternoon on Jadwin Courts.  Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, closes the regular season with a 16-0 record and will be the top seed in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Championship Tournament (Potter Trophy) next weekend at Yale.  No. 4-ranked Princeton falls to 10-2.  The defending CSA Champion Tigers are the last team to beat Trinity, having won, 5-4, in last winter's CSA Finals in New Jersey.  The Bantams have been undefeated in 14 of the last 15 regular seasons and are 278-2 over that span.

Trinity won at the bottom six positions, including 3-0 triumphs by Detter, first-year Zeyad Elshorafy (Alexandria, Egypt) at No. 7 and sophomore Moustafa Hamada (Alexandria, Egypt) at No. 8.  The Bantams led, 2-1, after the first wave and, 4-2, after six matches, before Elshorafy's 11-8, 11-7, 11-1 triumph clinched the victory for the visitors.  Junior Matthew Mackin (Greenwich, Conn.), sophomore Vrishab Kotian (Mumbai, India), and first-year Karan Malik (Mumbai, India) also posted Trinity wins.
