Bhamla And Boynton Lead Trinity Men's Swimming And Diving As 2009-10 Co-Captains
Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College men's swimming and diving team will open the 2009-10 season in a dual meet at Bates College on Saturday, November 21 at 1 p.m. The Bantams, coached by Kristen Noone (10th season), have been training since November 1 in preparation for the upcoming season. The regimen has included additional focus on strength and conditioning in the weight rooms, and the team attitude heading into the season is a positive one. The Bantams will look for leadership and points from a solid junior class, led by co-captains Andrew Boynton (Northampton, Mass.) and Ayaas Bhamla (Weston, Mass.), while a solid cadre of sophomores and freshman will also contribute.
Last season, Boynton had Trinity's top time in all three backstroke distances, while Bhamla owns the College's second-fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly and its third-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle. Senior diver Paul Scafariello (Hamden, Conn.) should perform at a high level, while junior Dan Remigino (Wethersfield, Conn.) will be a major factor in the breaststroke and freestyle events. Remigino boasted the team's top time in four different events last season, while breaking the College record in each of those performances. Remigino earned record-setting times in the 50-yard freestyle, the 50-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 100-yard individual medley.
