Trinity Doubles Team Reaches ITA Regional Men's Tennis Finals
Middlebury, Vt. - Senior tri-captain Spencer Feldman (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) and sophomore Anson McCook (Miami, Fla.) advanced to the doubles finals on Saturday with an 8-5 win in the quarterfinals and an 8-4 triumph in the semifinals but lost in the finals, 8-5, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III New England Regional Division III Men's Championships this afternoon at Williams College.
Feldman and McCook had each advanced to the round of 16 in singles and the pair had taken its first two doubles contests on Friday. Feldman defeated Eliot Jia, of Middlebury, 6-3, 6-0 in his first singles match today in straight sets but lost in straight sets in the quarterfinals, while McCook fell to Jeremy Weinberger, of Williams, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in his first singles match Saturday.
Feldman, seeded No. 3 in the 64-player field, had earned a bye in the opening round and downed Jeff Legunn, of Wesleyan, 6-3, 6-1, in the second round, while McCook downed opponents from Amherst and Middlebury in straight sets in his Friday singles matches. Feldman/McCook, the No. 3 seed in the doubles draw, won, 8-4, in the first round and, 8-6, in the second round on Friday.
