Trinity Men's Tennis Players Collect NESCAC All-Academic Honors
Hartford, Conn., August 31, 2010 – Trinity College men’s juniors David Dessau (New York, N.Y.) and D.J. Patrick (Atlanta, Ga.) were each selected for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) 2010 Spring All-Academic Team. Each student-athlete on the NESCAC All-Academic honoree must be varsity letterwinner and maintain at least a 3.35 cumulative grade-point average.
Trinity men’s tennis, coached by Paul Assaiante (14th season), finished the 2009-10 season with a 13-6 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the NESCAC, qualifying for the league championship tournament for the fourth straight season. The Bantams earned the No. 5 seed in the league tourney and defeated Bowdoin, 5-2, at Amherst in the NESCAC First Round before suffering a 5-0 loss to top-seeded Middlebury in a match played indoors at Hampshire College. The team finished ranked No. 4 in the ITA Division III Northeast Regional Poll and No. 14 in the ITA Division III National Poll.
Dessau finished 2009-10 with a 7-5 singles record and a 6-5 mark in doubles play. A graduate of the Fieldston School, he is the son of Jill Garfunkel-Dessau and Stephen Dessau. Patrick was 1-0 in singles and 4-2 as a doubles player in 2009-10. A graduate of the Westminster School, he is the son of Barbara and David Patrick.
