Trinity Men's Tennis Opens West Coast Swing With Win Against Hardin-Simmons

Claremont, Calif. - Sophomore Ned Mandel (Chevy Chase, Md.) dominated the No. 3 singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory and teamed with classmate Ilya levin (Wellesley, Mass.) for an 8-2 win at third doubles to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-1 triumph over the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys in men's tennis action this afternoon at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. Trinity, ranked No. 7 in the Northeast, improves to 2-1, while the Cowboys fall to 1-7 with their fifth loss in a row.

Levin/Mandel and the No. 2 duo of Dan Carpenter (Wayzata, Minn.) and first-year Aaron Segel (Needham, Mass.) both posted 8-2 doubles wins to give Trinity a 2-1 lead entering singles play.  The Bantams swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
