Trinity Pair Break Men's Track Records, Pegram Wins Long Jump At NESCAC Meet

New London, Conn. - Junior Sam Pegram (Wayland, Mass.) set a new College record to take first place in the long jump, as the Trinity College Bantams finished eighth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet this afternoon at Connecticut College. Trinity finished with 51 points, which was just one shy of seventh-place Wesleyan. Williams won the meet with 158.5 points.
Pegram bested his own record by 03.25"with his leap of 23'02.50", which was was two full inches better than the second-place distance and qualifies him provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet next Month. Trinity senior Sam Moorhead (Dedham, Mass.) also broke his own Bantam record with a second-place time of 1:51.91 in the 800-meter run, and was immediately followed in third place by Trinity sophomore Brendan Powers (Middleton, Mass.) 1.95 seconds later. Moorhead bested his own outdoor record in the event by a half-second and his time is also a provisional qualifier for Nationals. All three earn All-NESCAC recognition for their fine performances, and Powers was also chosen to represent Bantam men's track and field on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team..
