Middletown, Conn. - Bantam sophomore Alex Tomcho (Windsor, Conn.) won the 60-meter dash while junior captain Kyle Larsson (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) bested the field in the 600-meter run to lead the Trinity College men's track and field team at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday in Middletown. Trinity returns to action for the Boston University Valentine Invitational next Friday.
Tomcho's 7.05 time in the finals of the 60-meter dash was good enough for first place while he also posted a second place finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing just .08 seconds behind the first place runner. Larsson claimed the top-spot in the 600-meter run with his 1:23.36 finals time. Fellow junior captain Caleb Wright (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had a good day on the track, placing second place in the 800-meter run in a neck-and-neck finish. Sophomore classmates Joseph Ruggiero (Manchester, Conn.) and Zachary Joachim (Sudbury, Mass.) finished second and third, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run for Trinity as well. The 60-meter hurdles were also owned by Trinity as sophomores Jack McInnis (North Andover, Mass.) and Luke Mayer (Morristown, N.J.) took the top two spots. McInnis edged Mayer by a mere .02 seconds.
