Northampton, Mass. - Junior Samuel Oyebefun (Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis) won two events to lead the Trinity College men's indoor track and field team to an impressive showing at the 2017-18 season-opening Snowflake Winter Classic, hosted by Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
Oyebefun bested the field in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a blazing finals time of 6.94, 0.26 faster than any other runner. He also won the 200-meter dash with the field's best time of 23.41 in a great day of running. Junior Luke Mayer (Morristown, N.J.) took home first-place in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.51 while sophomore Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) won the mile-run in a closely contested race, finishing in 4:31.87.
Junior Ben Feola (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished second in the 400-meter dash at 52.67, just 1.66 off the lead an senior captain Daniel Hughes (Hagley, England) added a second-place finish in the 600-meter run, finishing in 1:28.34. First-year Stephen Tyler (Weston, Mass.) had a strong showing in his collegiate debut, taking third-place in the 800-meter run just .44 seconds off the pace.
Sophomores Timothy Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) and Spencer Brown (Falmouth, Maine) finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run while the Bantam 4x200-meter relay claimed the top-spot by more than two seconds ahead of Mount St. Mary's foursome.
