Boston, Mass. – The Trinity College men's indoor track and field squad saw five career best finishes at Boston University's Valentine Invitational over the weekend. The Bantams turn their focus to this weekend's Division III New England Championships, hosted by Middlebury, where Trinity will be well represented with runners who have qualified.
Senior Daniel Hughes (Hagley, England) hit a lifetime best in the 400-meter dash with a 52.59 finals time. Hughes was narrowly bested by junior Luke Mayer (Morristown, N.J.) in the 200-meter dash, who himself turned in a career-best time of 23.37.
Sophomore Erick Pena (Sarasota, Fla.) captured an indoor 400-meter dash personal record while rookie Erkin Verbeek (Bethesda, Md.) posted a lifetime best in the 800-meter dash with a finals time of 2:01.36. Senior captain Kyle Larsson (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) ran his first 800-meter race of the season, qualifying comfortably for the New England Championships this coming weekend. Sophomore Ace McAlister (Great Barrington, Mass.) also turned in a personal record in the 3,000-meter run to similarly set himself up for this Saturday's championship race.
