Bonnie Edmondson, a two-time national champion in the women’s hammer throw, joins the Trinity College track and field staff as an assistant coach this winter. Edmondson was ranked as high as No. 10 in the world and was ranked in the top five in the United States in the women’s hammer throw from 1990-1996. Edmondson has coached at the collegiate and high school levels for more than 15 years and has conducted numerous coaching clinics at the national level. She is presently an education consultant and the school health education coordinator at the Connecticut State Department of Education. Edmondson holds a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the University of Hartford, a master's degree in school health education from Southern Connecticut State University, and a bachelor's degree in English and communications from Eastern Connecticut State University.
In addition to serving as the throws coach of the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in 2003, she was the throws coach in the Pan American Junior Games in 2008, and the IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships in 1998. Edmondson has served as the USATF Olympic Development Co-Coordinator for the women’s hammer throw, and is a past member of both the USATF Athlete's Advisory Committee and of the USATF Women's Track and Field Executive Committee. In addition, she was awarded the USATF President's Award for her contribution in the promotion of the hammer throw on both the national and international levels.
