Garner Leads Trinity Men's Cross Country To Eighth At ECAC Championships


Bristol, R.I. - Sophomore Steve Garner (Yarmouthport, Mass.) finished 16th with a time of 27:05 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an eighth-place finish in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's Cross Country Championships this afternoon at Colt State Park.  The Bantams, competing without several of its top runners with the NCAA Division III Regional Championship meet next weekend, totaled 249 points to place 25 behind eighth-place St. Vincent and five ahead of ninth-place New Jersey.  Williams won the event with 64 points.

Garner finished 47 seconds off the first-place pace and four seconds shy of 11th place, while Bantam freshman Wilson McGrail (Wayland, Mass.) came in 27th place at 27:33, junior Ryan Lane (Weston, Conn.) finished 33rd at 27:41, and freshman Matthew Eremita (South Windsor, Conn.) as 49th at 27:59.
