Westfield, Mass. - Rookie Tim Lautenbach (Weston, Conn.) and senior Joseph Ruggiero (Manchester, Conn.) both finished in the top-ten to lead the Trinity College men's cross country squad to a first place finish at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Westfield State. The Bantams finished 20 points better than second place UMass-Dartmouth in the 29 team field.
Lautenbach paced the Bantams with an eighth-place finish at 26:14.65 while Ruggiero finished just behind him at 26:15.90. Senior Lucas Duros (Wilmette, Ill.) turned in a 16th-place performance while sophomore Stephen Tyler (Weston, Conn.) also finished top-20 in 18th-place. Junior Timothy Bogomolov (Lynn, Mass.) just missed out on the top-20, crossing the finish line in 26.49.43.
"We're proud of the effort put in by our men and women today," said Head Coach George Suitor. "We rested a couple top athletes and managed to step up as a team with solid performances."
Trinity returns to action next weekend for the Connecticut College Invitational in New London.
