Trinity Softball Defeats Smith For Second Time This Season

Northampton, Mass. - Junior SS Patricia Cipicchio (Southmont, N.C.) drove home the game-winning run with a two-run single in the fifth inning to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 7-3 victory over the Smith College Pioneers in softball action this afternoon.  The Pioneers fall to 3-8, while the Bantams improve to 7-6 with their second straight win and their second against Smith this season. 

Trailing, 3-0, after one inning, Trinity responded as senior co-captain 3B Stacy Hathcox (Woodinvillwe, Wash.) (Woodinville, WA) belted a three-run triple to tie the game.  Cipicchio provided her heroics in the fifth and Trinity scored again in the sixth and seventh innings.  mily Hiltzik '09 (Westbury, N.Y.) pitched all seven innings for the Pioneers, striking out three batters. Senior Gabrielle Sergi (Walpole, Mass.) earned the win for the Bantams in the circle, allowing six hits in 5.1 innings with three strikeouts.
