Trinity Softball Downs Plymouth State With Three-Run Seventh Inning
Clermont, Fla. - Junior co-captain 1B Nicole Nardella (Beverly, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with a two runs, three RBI, and a home run to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-7 win over the Plymouth State University Panthers in National Training Center Games softball action this evening. Trinity moves to 1-2, while the Panthers drop to 0-1. The game was delayed due to heavy rain from a 3:30 p.m. start to 10 p.m, and Trinity's afternoon game against Southern Maine was postponed to tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
Bantam junior 2B Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) went 2-for-3 and senior co-captain SS Patricia Cipicchio (Southmont, N.C.) added a double and 3 RBI. Sophomore Lindsay Gibbons (Basking Ridge, N.J.) earned the win in the circle in relief of classmate Katherine Poulous (Wilton, Conn.) who re-entered the game in the seventh frame after starting and pitching five innings to record a save.
