Trinity's Davis Selected For New England Basketball Hall Of Fame

Hartford, Conn., November 25, 2009 - Trinity College women's basketball coach Wendy Davis was honored as a Ronald Perry inductee into the 2009 New England Basketball Hall of Fame at the organization's brunch, dinner and induction ceremony on October 9 at the Mohegan Sun.
Davis is in her fifth season as head coach of the Trinity College women's basketball team after guiding the Bantams to their best season since 1999-00. Trinity finished with a 17-8 mark in 2008-09, qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the third time in four years, and advanced to the NESCAC Semifinals for the first time in program's history. The Bantams are 2-1 and captured the Golden Bears Hoop Classic at Western New England College during the winter season's first weekend. Davis is 49-49 as the Bantam head coach.
Prior to Trinity, Davis enjoyed a highly successful six-year stint at Western New England, posting a 105-55 record with conference post-season bids each year and ECAC bids in 2002 and 2005. In 2004-05, Davis was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year, as the Golden Bears posted a 19-8 record. She also served as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut in 1993-94.
Davis earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Connecticut in 1992 and added a master's degree from her alma mater in 1994, while helping the perennial women's basketball national power earn four NCAA bids and a trip to the NCAA Final Four in 1991. The seventh-leading scorer in UConn women's basketball history, Davis was a three-time Academic All-American and made the all-tournament team in the 1991 NCAA Regional Championship.
