Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore center Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) totaled 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 83-48 win over the visiting Mitchell College Mariners in women’s basketball action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity closes the fall semester with seven wins in a row after a season-opening loss, while the Mariners drop to 2-7 with their third setback in a row.

Trinity went ahead, 9-7, after a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Erica Junquet (Monroe, N.J.) midway through the first quarter and never looked back.  The Bantams opened up a double-digit lead at 23-11 when senior co-captain guard Kaitlin Lewis (Demarest, N.J.) drilled a trey from the corner as time expired at the end of the opening frame, and upped their advantage to 20 points at halftime, 45-25, after two more from the charity stripe by Junquet.  Erickson had 14 points and nine boards, while Junquet scored 10 points in the first half.  Trinity led by 25 points after three quarters and outscored the Mariners, 19-9, in the final stanza to win by its largest margin of the year.

Junquet finished with 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while sophomore guard Rebecca Reifler (Garden City, N.Y.) added 10 points and four steals.  Rookie forward Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) grabbed six rebounds and senior co-captain Sheena Landy (Durham, Conn.) dished five assists for the home team, which shot 80 percent from the foul line (24-30), outrebounded Mitchell, 55-32, and forced 28 Mariner turnovers.  Freshman guard Allegra Jones (New Haven, Conn.) paced Mitchell with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while sophomore guard Kate McCormack (Narragansett, R.I.) notched six points, four rebounds, and four assists.
