Weiss Nets Hat Trick as Trinity Women’s Ice Hockey Gets Revenge with Williams

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) scored three goals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-1 win over the Williams College Ephs in New England Small College Athletic Association (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action today at Williams Rink.  Trinity improves to 8-5-2 and 5-4-1 in the NESCAC, while Williams drops to 6-9-1 and 4-4-1 in the league.

Weiss gave Trinity a 1-0 lead with her first goal just 3:53 into the game.  Trinity went on to add two more goals in the first period to gain an early lead that would not be threatened.  Sophomore Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) added a goal for the Bantams, her fifth of the season.  Weiss has a team-high 10 goals and 17 points after today's performance.

Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) made 26 saves, allowing just the one goal for the win.  Williams junior goalkeeper Sara Plunkett (Barrington, R.I.) made 28 stops on the afternoon, giving her 57 saves in the two-game series.

Trinity, which snapped a five-game winless streak, moves ahead of Williams in the NESCAC standings with the win.  Williams earned a half game lead in the standings after a 4-0 win over Trinity yesterday, a lead that lasted less than 24-hours.

Trinity will host Manhattanville, ranked No. 10 in the nation, on Wed., Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be webcast live at www.teamline.cc (team code: 2055).
