Trinity Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to St. Olaf

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore goaltender Erin McNamara (Farmington, Minn.) made 33 saves to lead the St. Olaf College Oles to a 2-0 shutout over the Trinity College Bantams in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink.  Trinity falls to 9-6-2 with the loss, while the Oles improve to 6-7-4, breaking a three-game winless streak.

First year forward Alex Meyer (West St. Paul, Minn.) scored 8:30 into the match to give the Oles all the scoring they would need.  Junior defender Kari McClintick (Chaska, Minn.) put the game out of reach for the Bantams when she scored halfway through the thrid period to give St. Olaf a 2-0 lead, a score that would remain unchanged until the final buzzer.

The Bantam offense outshot the Oles 33-31 in an evenly contested match, but were unable to get the puck past McNamara.  Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) made 29 saves on the night.

Trinity will play a two-game series at NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Fri. Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. and on Sat. Feb. 7 at 3:30 pm.
