Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Repeats As Codfish Bowl Champions With Shutout Win

Boston, Mass. - Sophomore forward Alexa Guglielmi (Rocky Hill, Conn.) scored both of the game's goals, with each coming on assists by sophomore forward Jill Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) and freshman forward Hannah Harvey (Andover, Mass.), and junior Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) made 25 saves to earn a shutout in goal, as the Trinity College Bantams posted a 2-0 win over the SUNY-Oswego Lakers in the finals of the Codfish Bowl Women's Ice Hockey Tournament at the University of Massachusetts-Boston this evening.  Trinity improves to 6-2 and captures the Codfish crown for the second straight year with its fourth win in a row, while the Lakers fall to 5-6-1.

Guglielmi converted on a centering pass by Harvey on a Bantam breakaway to open the scoring 13:25 into the game.  Both goalies staved off numerous opportunities in the first two periods, particularly on penalty kill situations, but Guglielmi wristed in a shot from the 10 feet out right in front of the net.  Oswego goaltender Emi Williams (Anchorage, Alaska) finished with 33 saves, including two on open shots from close by Bantam sophomore Kim Weiss (Bethesda, Md.) and freshman Lindsay Weiner (Andover, Mass.) in the third period, and was selected as the tournament MVP with 72 stops in two games.  Iwachiw, the 2008 Codfish MVP, joined Harvey and Roloff on the all-tournament squad.
