Trinity Women’s Ice Hockey Rolls to 7-0 Victory over Wesleyan

Hartford, Conn. -  Junior forward Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) scored two goals and first-year goalkeeper Beth Hitchcock (Glencoe, Illi.) collected a shutout in her first career start to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-0 victory over New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival, the Wesleyan University Cardinals, in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center.  Trinity improves to 4-1-2 on the season while the Cardinals drop to 0-6.

Trinity put up four goals in the first period, and added three more in the third.  Weiss got the scoring started just 2:46 in the game, and went on to score another and add an assist in the game.  Sophomore Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) and Alexa Guglielmi (Rocky Hill, Conn.) each scored a goal and tallied an assist in the match.

Hitchcock recorded a memorable debut, posting a shutout in her first collegiate game.  She is the first goalkeeper in Trinity women's ice hockey history to record a shutout in her first game played at the collegiate level, and the first rookie to collect a shutout in her first start since Courtney Bergh led Trinity to a 1-0 win over Cortland State, on February 15, 2003.

Trinity hosts Neumann on Fri., Dec. 11 for a 4:30 p.m. match.
