Late Goal Gives Trinity Women’s Ice Hockey Win Over Neumann

Hartford, Conn. -  Junior forward Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) followed a two-goal performance on Tuesday by scoring the game-winning goal with 3.3 seconds on the clock to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 victory over the Neumann University Knights, in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center.  Trinity improves to 5-1-2 on the season while the Knights fall to 4-5-1.

Trinity fell behind midway through the first period after senior Holly Williams (Georgetown, Ont.) scored to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.  Trinity sophomore Hannah Harvey (Silverthorne, Colo.) answered just over a minute later to knot the game at one apiece. 

Trinity opened the second with a quick goal from senior Hadley Gleason (Boston, Mass.) and Neumann would tie it up again later in the period on a goal from sophomore Jennie Greenlee (Burlington, Ont.).

The back-and-forth nature of the game extended to the final minute, as both team's had late scoring opportunities until Weiss was able to find the back of the net with 3.3 showing on the clock. 

Trinity senior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) made 24 saves to earn the win, while Neumann senior goalkeeper Amanda Houck (Chester, Md.) made 49 saves for the Knights.

The Bantams will face NESCAC-rival Bowdoin at UMass-Boston on Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. in the opening game of the 2010 Codfish Bowl Tournament.
