Trinity Women's Lacrosse Among Nation's Best In Early 2009 Polls

Hartford, Conn., Mar. 6, 2008 - The Trinity College women's lacrosse team, which posted an 11-7 record and played in its second consecutive NCAA Division III Championship Tournament last springr, is ranked No. 12 in the Lacrosse Magazine Division III Pre-Season Poll and No. 14 in the current Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Under Armour National Division III National Poll.  Trinity, coached by Kate Livesay (3rd Season), opens the season at home against league rival Connecticut College on Saturday, March 7 at noon.

Trinity boasts eight returning starters from last season, including sophomore and 2008 NESCAC Rookie of the Year Rachel Romanowsky (Hampstead, N.H.) who finished second on the team in scoring with 43 goals and a team-high 22 assists for 65 points and added 16 ground balls, 33 draw controls (2nd on team), and 12 caused turnovers in 17 games (all starts), and classmate Caitlin Irvine (Westwood, Mass.) whoadded 48 goals (2nd on team, 7th in NESCAC) and seven assists for 55 points with 10 free-position goals, 19 ground balls, and 16 draw controls in 18 games (14 starts) at attack. 

Senior co-captains Carrie Disa (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Kristina Scontras (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) also return with three years of starting experience, while three freshmen goalies will compete for playing time in the Bantam goal.
