Trinity's Disa And Schultz Take Academic Honors For Women's Lacrosse


Hartford, Conn., September 4, 2009 - Trinity College women's lacrosse senior co-captain Carrie Disa (Wilbraham, Mass.) and senior Jessica Schultz (Troy, N.Y.) were each selected for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) 2009 Spring All-Academic Team and the Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) National Academic Squad.  Each NESCAC All-Academic honoree must be varsity letterwinner and maintain at least a 3.35 grade-point average and each IWLCA Academic Squad member must have a g.p.a. of 3.5 or better for the spring semester.  The Trinity women's team was also selected as an IWLCA National Academic Squad for earning a collective g.p.a. of 3.0 or better for the 2009 spring semester.  Trinity, coached by Kate Livesay (3rd Season), posted a 10-4 overall record and finished fourth in the NESCAC with a 6-3 league mark. 

Disa started all 14 games in the Trinity women's midfield and notched eight goals and one assist for nine points with 21 ground balls and 20 draw controls (T3rd on team).  In her fine career, Disa had 38 goals and eight assists for 47 points with five gamewinners, 86 groundballs, 73 draw controls, and 38 caused turnovers in 57 games.  An alum of Minnechaug Regional High School, Disa is graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in biochemistry and neuroscience. She is the daughter of Kathy and Ralph Disa. 

Schultz, an attacker, also played in every game and had 18 goals and four assists for 22 points with 18 ground balls.   In her fine career, Schultz totaled 33 goals and 11 assists for 44 points with 28 ground balls in 53 games.  An alum of the Emma Willard School, Schultz graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in political science. She is the daughter of Val and Stuart Schultz.
